Katie O'Connell
Managing Director

Katie has worked for Proficient Security Ltd since its creation in 2005 and has overall responsibility for the delivery of the companies policies, procedures and objectives. Katie works closely with the other Directors and senior members of staff in order to monitor targets and ensure the highest levels of professionalism are maintained at all times.

Prior to Proficient Security Ltd Katie worked for 8 years in the construction and financial services industry. Katie has a background in HR and Management and is also responsible for the company's accreditations.

Qualifications / Accreditations: SIA licensed, BS7858:2006 Security Screening and Vetting, BSIA, SIA Safe Contractor Approved, ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard, Building Confidence Accredited, NASDU Associate member, UVDB Verified.

Tom Hughes
Director

Tom joined Proficient Security Ltd after 10 years in the City of London where he worked as an Executive Search Consultant focussing on the legal sector.

He joined Proficient to oversee the organisations rapid expansion and manage the companies growing sales team. Tom works closely with management to drive the strategic success and direction of Proficient Security Ltd and examine new markets and opportunities. He is also responsible for identifying new areas of innovation and technological application.

Tom is an Expert Bid Writer and also served for 7 years as a Royal Marine Commando (Reserve). He completed Jungle Warfare and Survival training in Brunei and specialised as a Royal Marines Physical Training Instructor. He was also formerly CCF instructor for Harrow School.

Michael Mulvaney
Head of Business Strategy

Michael has over eight years senior management experience and served over ten years as a Royal Marines Commando (Reserve). He completed Jungle Warfare and Survival training in Brunei and also Arctic Warfare training in Norway.

Prior to Proficient Security Ltd Michael spent 5 years in the City of London focussing on financial crime and major fraud matters working for Abbey Stockbrokers, the London Stock Exchange and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Michael works closely with the Directors to advise on areas of strategic importance and also acts as lead auditor ensuring that quality management systems and standards are adhered to.

Qualifications: BSc (Hons) Financial Mathematics; SII Investment Diploma; SII Member; IAQ Investment Administration Qualification; SITO Certificated Security Risk Surveyor; Level 3 Door Supervisor (NOCN); Level 3 Conflict Management (NOCN); 7303 & 1886 City & Guild teacher trained; HSE First Aid at Work.

Craig Cousins
Operations Manager

Craig served for 6 years as a Royal Marines Commando leaving in 2009 with the rank of Corporal. During this time he undertook operations in Afghanistan and commanded the anti-terrorist protection team for the UK’s nuclear deterrent. He also commanded the close protection team overseeing high ranking military officials in the arctic conditions of Norway. Craig also spent 18 months recruiting and training potential Marines at the elite Commando Training Centre, Royal Marines in Lympstone, Devon.

After leaving the Marines he completed several courses in close protection and maritime security and worked in this area for a period before joining Proficient Security Ltd.

Qualifications: SIA Licensed, Diploma Level 3 in Close protection, IMSA – Ships Security Officer, IMSA – Port Facility Security Officer, HSE First Aid at Work, Automated External Defibrillation trained, BCS Level 1 Certificate for IT, Class 1 Driver (HGV), Mountain and Arctic Warfare trained, Competent Person & BESC trained.

Craig Robinson
Area Operations Manager

Craig served 7 1/2 years in the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards and left with the rank of Corporal. He completed operational tours of Afghanistan, Iraq and the Balkans (Bosnia and Kosovo). Craig also completed public duties in London and participated in 3 Trooping of the Colour Parades. In addition he qualified as a Sharp Shooter, Search Instructor, Heli-Rigger, Team Medic and an Armoured Vehicle Commander.

On leaving the Welsh Guards Craig JoinedProficient Security Ltd as a Site Supervisor and rapidly progressed over 18 months to become Area Operations Manager for the South West.

Qualifications: SIA Licensed, HSE First Aid at Work,Sharp Shooter, Heli-Rigger, Search Instructor, Team medic, Class 1 driver(HGV), Team leader, GNVQ in Communications.

David Martin
Systems Manager

David oversees our systems team ensuring that all our CCTV and Access Control design and installations are carried out to the highest professional level and in line with the relevant British standards. David has years of experience in this field and is an expert in all aspects of security systems including fire detection, intruder alarms, remote monitoring and local & campus networking systems.

Qualifications: BTEC - Practical CCTV design and Installation, BTEC - Practical Intruder Alarms, City & Guilds Part P 2393 Domestic Installer, HSE First Aid at Work.

Jennifer Harding
HR and Vetting Officer

Jennifer joined Proficient Security Ltd as HR/Vetting Officer In November 2011 and quickly established herself as an integral part of the team. Jennifer’s key roles take in all aspects of recruitment and retention including: potential and current employees, vetting, monitoring of correct documentation and licensing, administration and dealing with all queries that come from Proficient’s employees.
